New Scientist’s Alison Flood speaks with the judging panel for this year’s Royal Society Trivedi Science Book Prize who will be uncovering more about the 2026 shortlist on the day of its big reveal.

Since 1988, the Prize has celebrated outstanding popular science writing with notable winners including Bill Bryson, Stephen Hawking, and Camilla Pang, with some of the Prize’s previous judges including such eminent authors and science communicators as Sir David Attenborough, Terry Pratchett, Brian Cox and Roma Agrawal.

Be among the first to delve into the shortlist, plus get the panel’s insider view on what makes for great science storytelling and why these titles rose to the top.
